As energy prices continue to rise, the need to optimise energy usage and recovery is increasing rapidly. Government pressure on today’s corporations to become environmentally friendly and reduce carbon emissions to the bare minimum puts additional emphasis on the importance of energy recovery.
As Cryostar technology merely recovers unused energy, this technology is CO2 emission free.
The principle of energy recovery is to turn unharnessed energy into electricity. The expansion of a fluid, such as natural gas, gas from the grid, or a specifically selected working fluid, can be used to rotate an impeller and produce mechanical energy. Cryostar turbo expanders may then be coupled to a generator to convert this recovered energy into electricity.
Here at Cryostar, over the last 20 years, we have perfected radial in-flow turbines to harvest wasted energy from a working fluid into electricity.
It is the ideal technology for this application because not only do radial inflow turbo expanders provide high efficiency levels at design points, they also have very good off design efficiency thanks to their adjustable inlet guide vanes. This is a very valuable asset as, despite the often-varying site conditions, Cryostar turbines still maintain a high annual productivity.
