History


For more than 3 decades Cryostar has specialised in the design and manufacturing of cryogenic equipment.


Some milestones of our development


1966
 
Opening of Cryostar in Basel (Switzerland) as a subsidiary of the American company Airco Cryogenics Division.
     
1972
 
In order to better serve the European market needs, Airco Cryogenics decides to extend its Swiss subsidiary activities. Hesingue in France is chosen as the production facility due to its proximity to :
- The German / Swiss borders
- The Basel/Mulhouse international airport
     
1973
 
Opening of the Hesingue site with an initial focus on the manufacture of cryogenic pumps and freezing tunnels.
     
1974
 
Beginning of the expansion turbine and compressor program.
     
1978
 
The British Oxygen Company ("The BOC Group") takes over Airco Cryogenics and consequently Cryostar.
     
1983
 
BOC spins off Airco Cryogenics company but retains the Cryostar organisation.
     
1985
 
Cryostar becomes a member of "The BOC Group". The first Cryostar subsidiary is set up in the United Kingdom.
     
1991
 
Cryostar opens its second subsidiary in Singapore.
     
1993
 
Start-up of the American operations in Philadelphia, PA, USA, that will later on be moved to Allentown, PA, USA.
     
1997
 
Opening of a production and service centre in Santa Fe Springs, CA, USA. 1998 :The Swiss headquarters are merged into the French site that becomes Cryostar headquarters world-wide (Hésingue, France).
     
2001
 
Acquisition of Elintec, company specialised in gas cylinder filling systems and creation of Cryostar Automation
     
2001
 
Acquisition of CCI (United-States) whose main activity is the producing and repairing of centrifugal and piston pumps.
     
2002
 
Acquisition of the CVI pump line from Chart Industries (USA).
Opening of a sales office in Hangzhou (China).
     
2005
 
Cryostar expands in China with the opening of a Service Centre and workshop in Hangzhou.
     
2006
 
Opening of Cryostar Brasil in Sao Paulo.
Cryostar becomes a member of The Linde Group via the acquisition of The BOC Group by Linde.
