Environmental analysis allows CRYOSTAR to determine the following impact control and reduction actions:
Energy consumption: CRYOSTAR has produced an energy diagnostic and upgrading program for structural equipment and utilities to improve energy efficiency.
Waste production: after taking action to improve our waste recycling rate (100% metals, 100% wood, 80% packaging), CRYOSTAR has now implemented a process to reduce waste at the source. For example:
| |
100% of cardboard boxes used to package spare parts are reused for shimming in shipped parcels. |
| |
We have achieved a reduction of 30% in wood waste by implementing reusable shuttle packaging. |
Raw materials: nitrogen consumption is closely linked to our activity and revenue. In this field, our action is mainly focused on controlling consumption during equipment tests.
Noise: our actions focus on:
| |
Noise reduction at source by implementing mobile sound insulation systems during machine tests generating high levels of noise. |
| |
Reduction of the outward impact by sound insulating test infrastructures. |
As for the other impacts, CRYOSTAR’s staff can implement specific actions as required, according to the risks. A good example is degreasing activity in oxygen applications. This operation requires the use of a chlorinated solvent. To reduce the impacts, both on our personnel’s health and on the environment, CRYOSTAR has acquired a fully sealed degreasing machine.
Just as with personnel health and safety, environmental responsibility is fully integrated into processes carried out at our Hésingue site. |
