‘EcoRel' Boil-off Gas Reliquefaction Plant |
 |
The
‘EcoRel' re-liquefaction system liquefies the boil-off gas by indirect heat exchange. A refrigeration cycle provides the cooling, using nitrogen, (which is compressed in several stages and cooled using indirect heat exchange with used cooling gas), as a cooling medium. After being used in indirect heat exchange for the compressed natural gas vapour, the cold nitrogen is returned to one of the compressors. The natural gas vapour is compressed and then condensed by indirect heat exchange with the nitrogen.
‘EcoRel' (patent pending) stands for Cryostar's Economic, Reliable and Ecological Reliquefaction Plant onboard LNG Carriers.
The Nitrogen Cooling Cycle is installed in the safe area and includes the Nitrogen Compander Package, an after-cooler package and a large counter-current heat exchanger.
The Natural Gas Reliquefaction Cycle is entirely installed in the gas hazardous area. The fully redundant configuration consists of two 2-stage Boil-off Gas Compressors, a gas conditioning system, a condenser/cold box and a condenser /LNG mixing device with discharge header in each tank that keeps the entire condensed gas in liquid state.
With ‘EcoRel' full re-liquefaction can be achieved without the need of venting or burning gas during normal operation. |
